Welcome!

I am an Assistant Professor in the Urban Planning and Policy Development program at the Bloustein School at Rutgers University. I am affiliated with the Center for Latin American Studies (were I serve on the executive board), the Ralph W. Voorhees Center for Civic Engagement, and the Rutgers Climate and Energy Institute.

I am on leave from the Bloustein School and in residence at Perry World House for the 2026-2027 academic year as Lightning Scholar.

I study the emergence and institutionalization of environmentally sustainable planning practices in cities, the politics of planning for water and sanitation affordability,, and grassroots involvement in urban governance. My research and professional practice center on cities and metropolitan areas in the Global South. I have a regional focus on Latin America and have worked in Southeast Asia.
